Stipendiemotivering:
Simon Kaack graduated from the Master’s degree programme in Human Rights Studies at Lund University. Throughout his studies, he focused on human rights developments in Southeast Asia, institutionalisation processes of ASEAN and its relationship with the EU. Simon’s thesis sheds light on human rights implications arising from free trade agreements between the EU and Singapore and Vietnam, as well as the ongoing negotiations with Thailand. For the former, a content analysis determined in how far value-based trade agreements, as referred to by the EU, are implemented in practice. For the latter, Simon conducted interviews with various Thai stakeholders from relevant ministries, trade unions, civil society, and academia.
