Stipendiemotivering:

In his BA thesis project ’Lasting Light’ Kristofer Sigray aims to paint an optimistic vision of how contemporary technological consumer goods could be designed. As society is experiencing technological advancement at unprecedented speeds with the ongoing AI-shift, Kristofer chooses to pause and re-evaluate the design of technological consumer goods and shift the perspective from sales-driven feature innovation to creative re-examining of core needs. This perspective manifests also in his choice of artefact to materialize his thesis project; a projector for home use, allowing existing surfaces to be screens when needed, and equally important, to not be, when not needed. In response to The Right to Repair act (EU 2024), Kristofer’s project imagines a user-emboldened alternative, aesthetically shifting from hiding complexities to sparking curiosity, enabling independent reparation rather than simply allowing it. Throughout his studies Kristofer has shown a consistent drive for pushing further than the expected, paired with generosity when it comes to knowledge and skill, shouldering additional responsibility by arranging extra-curricular classes, sharing skills with fellow students.
