Dimitra Konstantinidi’s work combines strong technical skill with rare intellectual and ethical depth, addressing the complexities of our time. Their project Mother’s Hug reflects a deep engagement with today’s interconnected crises, grounded in the belief that we must see ourselves as part of a larger whole. Drawing on the Caryatids of the Acropolis, the student reimagines them as contemporary figures navigating uncertainty, offering both critique and hope. The project takes the form of a three-dimensional textile installation, where embroidery and painting function as parallel modes of excellence, demonstrating both technical mastery and conceptual clarity. Konstantinidi has the ability to balance serious themes with a childlike, accessible storytelling approach that invites empathy and reflection.
